WHAT HAPPENED?
Reports from suggest that Ramos is open to accepting an annual salary of approximately $4 million (£3.22m/around 80 million Mexican pesos). However, negotiations have hit a roadblock regarding performance-related bonuses, which the former Spain international wants to be included in his deal. Another significant point of contention is the contract duration. Ramos’ representatives are pushing for a two-year agreement, whereas Monterrey are only willing to offer a one-year deal.

WHAT MONTERREY PRESIDENT SAID
Monterrey’s president, Antonio Noriega, confirmed that Ramos is indeed one of the options the club are considering.
“He is on the list and is a real option among other possibilities, anything can happen as always in negotiations. Yes (negotiation is on the way) along with others. The final arrangement (is what is missing)," he said while speaking to

This is not the first time Ramos has been linked with a move outside of Europe. Last summer, it was suggested that the former Real Madrid defender was in talks with MLS side San Diego FC regarding a potential transfer to the United States. However, no deal materialized at the time.
